"Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians. The evidence shows conclusively that Proposition 8 enacts, without reason, a private moral view that same-sex couples are inferior to opposite-sex couples," Walker wrote.Excellent. I will have to peruse the whole 136-page opinion at some point as I'm sure there are going to be more gems in there that are going to explode heads in the bigoted religious right community. Even though we probably know all the players already, it will be interesting to see who files Friend of the Court Briefs with the Supreme Court because this is ultimately where it will go.
The judge added in the conclusion of the 136-page opinion: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license."
